Thanks for checking out the Backdrop Junction.  My name is Dave and I live in Westfield, Massachusetts.  We are about two towns over from the city of Springfield.  As you can tell from the site most of my backdrops come from the New England area.  Others, though, are images I have been able to capture while traveling throughout the country as a corporate pilot or on vacation overseas.  I get to travel a lot of places in North America, and while I don't always get to stay for long, I usually get a couple chances each trip to shoot a couple of backdrops.  One fun part of my job is getting to see some of our more regular destinations at various times of the year.  This means I can capture the same scenes in more than one season.

My wife got me interested in photography just before I moved to Alaska with the U..S. Coast Guard.  There is no better place to learn to use a camera than the beautiful landscapes of Alaska.  My only regret is I wasn't shooting for backdrops at the time.  Backdrop Junction came about shortly after I made the move to digital photography.  I started learning how to use photo editing software and realized I had already made the larger purchases that would be required.  This has been a fun way to combine my two primary hobbies, photography and model railroading.

I an currently an HO modeler.  I have a small shelf layout about one foot deep and fifteen feet or so long.  This is the Whip City Railroad and is very loosely based on the Pioneer Valley Railroad right here in Westfield.  The layout is DCC and currently features three industries, a lumber yard, a furniture factory, and one spur where I have not quite decided what to put.  Future plans include a yard on the other side of my basement, where I hope that someday the Whip City will interchange with the CSX Berkshire Sub between West Springfield yard and Selkirk yard in New York.  This is a long way off though as the basement needs finishing first.

Again, thanks for checking out the site.  Please feel free to email any comments or suggestions.  I have already received a lot of great input and advice which I think has made the site stronger and allows me to bring a better product to you.

Dave
