Using the Backdrop Junction Site
|
Hi folks. I have worked to make the site as easy as possible to use but there are a few things that just need to be explained quickly. Read below for answers to questions I get pretty regularly.
What is the difference between Vinyl and Matte?
The matte paper is what we started out with. It is Epson's Enhanced Matte paper. It is paper and thus has less moisture resistance. It still has great image quality, using professional quality inks and printers. It does not come with any pre-applied adhesive. There are sprays available to help provide a moisture barrier. This material should only be used in dry areas.
The adhesive vinyl is what it sounds like. It is a vinyl material used for outdoor signage. It is made by Inkpress. Being vinyl, it is extremely water resistant and tough. It also has a pre-applied adhesive. Like a giant sticker, just peel off the backing and put it up. I find the pre-applied adhesive has the benefit of being evenly applied so you don't run the risk of missing a spot.
What do the sizes under the images all mean?
The sizes listed are there to guide you in choosing your backdrop. As one dimension of a backdrop changes, the other dimiension must change proportionally. Otherwise distortion will occur. This means that a 12" x 6' backdrop enlarged to 24" tall would be 12' long. I list the four sizes to get you in the ballpark of where the length will be say, if you order a backdrop at 17" tall. With no change in the image, that backdrop will end up being somewhere between the 12" height and 24" height shown on the page. As always, custom sizing is available and you will be able to see the backdrop and note any changes prior to purchasing.
Can Backdrops be made longer?
Backdrops can definetely be made longer most of the time. There are two methods of doing this. One is to simply do a mirror image reversal of the original image. In this case, editing software can be used to eliminate the most obvious parts of the mirroring.
The second option is to blend one backdrop with another. This involves a fair amount of editing and can incur an extra fee for the work. In this case you would use the sizing guidelines on the pages, and create a linear sort of diagram of what backdrops you want and in what order, noting where each should start and stop. I will work to merge the images together and create a continuous scene. See the Custom Orders page for more details.
Can Backdrop be made Smaller?
Sure, just let me know what you are looking to do using the form on the Custom Orders page. And, if there is only a portion of the backdrop you want to use, let me know which portion and I can do that too. As always, you will have a chance to view the final product prior to purchase.
